3 UPM lecturers received the recognition of Malaysia's Top Research Scientists 2022

Kuala Lumpur, 29 Sep - Three lecturers from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) succeeded in making the name of the university famous when they received the award and recognition as Top Research Scientists Malaysia (TRSM) 2022 by the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM).

This recognition is given to Malaysian research scientists who have at least 10 years of cumulative contributions in the science, technology, innovation and economy (STIE) sector with the aim of identifying and recognizing outstanding local research scientists.
TRSM 2022 from UPM consists of Professor Ts Dr Hidayah Arifin Faculty of Biotechnology and Biomolecular Science (FBSB), Professor Dr Alyani Ismail, Faculty of Engineering (FK) and Professor Dr Lim Hong Ngee, Faculty of Science (FS).

Professor Ts. Dr. Hidayah Arifin, FBSB UPM said the recognition of TRSM 2022 to him in recognition of his expertise in the field of Bioprocess Engineering which contributes to the excellence and development of research in Biological, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences.
"I feel grateful and happy for this recognition. Hopefully this recognition will be an encouragement and inspiration to researchers and students to continue to work and be active in STIE's research field.
"I hope to be able to contribute more in the field of research and share knowledge with UPM people in particular as well as Malaysians and internationals in my field of expertise," he said.

He added that he hoped the award would be a stepping stone for him to contribute more to the direction of research development in Malaysia.
The 2022 ASM Fellow Award and TRSM Recognition ceremony was completed by the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba, recently.
Meanwhile, a total of six UPM lecturers became ASM 2022 Fellows consisting of scientists, engineers, technologists and scholars for their significant contributions in the STIE sector and recognized nationally and internationally.

ASM Fellow from UPM is Professor Datin Dr. Siti Nor Akmar Abdullah (Faculty of Agriculture) Professor Dr. M Iqbal Saripan (Faculty of Engineering), Professor Ir Dr Aduwati Sali (Faculty of Engineering), Professor Datin Paduka Dr Fatimah Mohamed Arshad (ITAFOS), Professor Datuk Dr Jayum anak Jawan (Faculty of Human Ecology) and Professor Datuk Dr Mad Nasir Shamsudin (Faculty of Agriculture ).
One of the recipients of the ASM Senior Fellow is the former Vice Chancellor of UPM, Prof Datin Paduka Dr Aini Ideris FASc. - UPM
