Department of Bioprocess Technology is the first department in Malaysia to offer BSc. (Biotechnology) undergraduate programme for the undergraduate study. The main objective is to provide student with knowledge in the field of biotechnology with focus in bioprocess technology for production of biotechnology products and services. The department offers BSc. (Biotechnology) programme of 3 years including 5 modules that be selected by final year student according to their field of interests: food biotechnology, environmental biotechnology, industrial biotechnology, plant biotechnology and molecular biology. All students have to undergo Industrial Training in the fourth semester. In the final year student, students are given the opportunity to conduct research project under the supervision of experienced professors. To be a student in this Department, the candidate must pass Matriculation (Life Science) programme or the Malaysian STPM.Department of Bioprocess Technology also offers postgraduate programmes, Master Science programme (MS) and PhD. Besides research projects, MS and PhD students have to take a minimum of 9 and 12 credit courses, respectively. The field of studies offered includes industrial biotechnology, environmental biotechnology, food and enzyme biotechnology, microbiology and nanobiotechnology.
